Last week, hundreds of Alaskans gathered in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Kodiak to show their support for meaningful oil tax reform that spurs investment and jumpstarts Alaska’s economy. The rallies’ purpose was to let state legislators know that many hardworking Alaskans want substantial changes to the state’s oil taxes to encourage investment and new production.
Speakers at the Make it Meaningful Rally in Anchorage talked about why meaningful tax reform matters to them; among the reasons offered were increased job opportunities, a healthy economic future for Alaska’s children and sustained funding for vitally important public services like public safety, education and social services.
More than 1,100 citizens attended the Rally in Anchorage, and 250 in Fairbanks. If you weren’t able to attend the Anchorage Rally, you can watch highlights of the speakers’ presentations (at right).
