120 Children Expected to Participate in Mini Heart Run on Friday, April 27
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – As a warm-up for the American Heart Association’s Heart Run on Saturday, April 28, pre-school children and toddlers will make a mad dash to the finish line on Friday, April 27 during the 11th Annual Mini Heart Run by Providence Center for Childhood Development, in partnership with the American Heart Association (AHA).
About 120 children from toddler two's to preschool will participate in the fun run, and each group will race separately. The race will take place on the grassy mesa area on top of the hill by the Providence Region Building.
“This race is a blast for kids and their families and just as importantly, it’s a great way for kids to learn that exercise can be loads of fun,” said Lisa Sauder, Executive Director for the American Heart Association in Anchorage.
The Mini Heart Run is a partnership by the AHA and Providence Center for Childhood Development to help promote physical activity and reduce the risk of childhood obesity in the local community. Each child that participates will receive a running bib and a medal.
