Only Alaska GROWN in April!
(Anchorage, AK) - Franci Havemeister, Director of the Division of Agriculture challenges all Alaskan’s to eat more Alaska Grown in April. “We look forward to the bounty of Alaska Grown products that will come with summer, but right now our farmers need your support too” says Director Havemeister. The Director reports that Alaska Grown potatoes and milk products are readily available in grocery stores and are of exceptional quality. “There is nothing more fresh than Alaska Grown, so make the choice that is healthy for you and your family as well as healthy for our economy. Remember to always choose Alaska Grown” says the Director.
The Alaska Agricultural Statistics Service revealed in their March1st “Alaska Potato Stocks” report that disappearance of Alaska Grown potatoes is slower this year than it was at this same time last year – meaning that growers are reporting more potatoes in their storage facilities. Additionally, production last summer was higher than average, resulting in larger quantities of potatoes. Area growers confirm the Agriculture Statistics information, reporting slow movement.
