Governor Honors Service of Slain JBER Soldier

April 20, 2011, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell offered his heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Captain Charles E. Ridgley, Jr., who died Saturday, April 16, as a result of injuries sustained in a suicide bomb attack at a military base in eastern Afghanistan.

“Sandy and I were deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Captain Ridgley,” Governor Parnell said. “Alaskans join together in paying tribute to his selfless dedication, professionalism and unyielding service to our country. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Ridgley, 40, was serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and was assigned to the 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 3rd Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
