The Volunteer Orientation is an opportunity for past, present and future Volunteers to meet the Staff at the Pratt Museum and have a brief tour of the Museum. This is a community based event. All are welcome! Now is a good time to share your local knowledge with the many tourists coming to Homer this summer. Volunteer time is a valuable donation to your community museum.
March 19 through May 16, 2010, Pratt Museum Special Exhibits Gallery
Michael Walsh and Asia Freeman’s exhibit explores stories, truths, myths, feats and failures memorialized in our backyards. Since pioneering days, we Alaskans have been known to hoard a lot of stuff. Our backyards don’t conceal as much as they reveal shared experiences and dilapidated dreams. Working with found objects, moving images and sound, collaborating multi-media artists reveal down-home Alaskan experiences for Backyard, Alaska.
JUBILEE! 2010: CELEBRATING YOUNG ARTISTS
April 2 through May 9, 2010, Pratt Museum Contemporary Art Gallery
This exhibit features the work of local students' talent in the arts.
KACHEMAK BAY: AN EXPLORATION OF PEOPLE AND PLACE
Pratt Museum permanent exhibit
This innovative exhibit is a complete redesign of the Pratt's main galleries, with Phase I completed in 2004. Community-based videos, photo essays, computer interactives, and visitor-controlled remote video technology take visitors beyond the museum walls to historic and contemporary life around Kachemak Bay, providing an intimate means of understanding people and place.
Various education programs are taking place throughout the year at the Pratt. Check out our website for more details at www.prattmuseum.org and click on our calendar of events
