Governor Parnell Issues Statement on Lieutenant Governor
April 2, 2010, Fairbanks, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell today issued the following statement regarding Lieutenant Governor Craig Campbell’s announcement not to seek another term.
“I have a great respect for Lieutenant Governor Craig Campbell. The Parnell–Campbell administration has worked to create new jobs and support Alaskan families. I appreciate Craig’s dedication to Alaska and his important contributions in this administration.
“There are two areas where the lieutenant governor’s efforts have been especially important, although they have received little publicity. Craig continues to be particularly effective in increasing the state’s international outreach to potential business partners all over the world. In addition, the lieutenant governor organized and oversaw the state’s efforts last fall to make sure each village in rural Alaska had sufficient fuel and food to get through this winter.
“I recognize this personal decision was difficult for the lieutenant governor and his family. I support Craig and know that he will continue to be a leader in Alaska.”
