Governor Parnell Disappointed with Confirmation Votes
April 9, 2010, Juneau, Alaska - Governor Sean Parnell today expressed disappointment with the Legislature's rejection of his appointments of Al Barrette to the state Board of Game and Nancy Bienvenue to the Board of Nursing.
"While I am disappointed that the Legislature failed to confirm Al Barrette for the Board of Game, I remain committed to selecting nominees who will ensure that there is abundant wildlife for Alaska families who depend upon it," Governor Parnell said. "And it's a sad day when qualified Alaskans such as Nancy Bienvenue step forward to serve on these boards and get treated like a political football. I am grateful, however, that she offered her service, and I will again appoint a qualified person to that position."
The Legislature's action requires the governor to make new appointments to the Game Board and the Board of Nursing, subject to confirmation by the Legislature.
