Students Participate in "Super Sweeper" Program: This Saturday Students lend a hand during Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup Week for a chance to win an iPod Shuffle The Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup "Super Sweeper" Program will be held at participating schools from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 1 and is a fun way to teach kids the importance of a clean city. The "Super Sweeper" Program challenges elementary, middle, private and high school students to get together and cleanup trash around their schools and neighborhoods.

Families are welcome to join thousands of student volunteers during the day. Pick- up your orange bags at participating schools starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Participating students have a chance to win an iPod Shuffle®. Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup: Orange Bags Available Pick-up orange bags at select Red Robin and Burger King locations The 42nd annual Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup will be held May 1 to 8 across the Municipality of Anchorage. Don't delay and pick-up your orange bags this weekend! Orange cleanup bags will be available at the below locations. Please limit two bags per person. Then, during the Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup Week, fill and deliver your trash bags to Anchorage/ Girdwood landfills and transfer stations for FREE.

  • Red Robin (3401 Penland Parkway and 401 E Dimond Blvd.)
  • Burger King (900 E. Dimond Blvd., 700 Northway Drive and 1405 W Northern Lights Blvd.)
  • Anchorage Chamber Office (1016 W. Sixth Avenue, Suite 303) (Hours: Mon: 8-11 a.m., 1:30-5 p.m.; Tues. thru Fri.: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

Sign Up to Volunteer Today Get your team and designate a specific cleanup location around town Do you and your co-workers have an eye on a certain section of town that needs to be cleaned? You can pledge to volunteer yourself or a group of people anytime during Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup Week May 1-8. Coordinate with co-workers to clean your neck of the woods during the Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup Week and then visit Anchoragechamber.org and use the volunteer sign-up form. Type your location in the "Comment" box. Remember to stay flexible because someone may beat you to your spot! Please Note: Once orange bags are filled, your team is responsible for delivering the trash, for free, to either the Anchorage Regional Landfill, Anchorage Central or Girdwood Transfer Stations (see below). Free Dump Days at the Landfills and Transfer Stations: May 1, 2 and 8 Remember to cover your load and truck beds to keep Anchorage clean and green Cleanup Heroes are asked to deliver all trash to the local landfills. The Anchorage Regional Landfill, Anchorage Central Transfer Station and Girdwood Transfer Station will be open for free residential use on May 1, 2 and 8. Orange bags will be accepted free of charge the entire cleanup week. Visit Anchoragechamber.org for more information about load requirements and specific information.


Clean Sweep Celebration: May 6 Celebrate a cleaner city on the Park Strip with activities for the entire family Businesses and families are encouraged to spend Thursday, May 6 cleaning and Anchorage's streets, parks and neighborhoods and then come together at the end of the day to celebrate at the Anchorage Chamber Clean Sweep Celebration from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Delaney Park Strip.

This free community celebration will be fun for the whole family, including games like the Trash Triathlon, Super Sweeper Races, a stage of entertainers, clean dream wall, free ice cream, door prizes and more!
