Anch ATHENA Society PowerLink Program is Back

Anchorage, AK- The Anchorage ATHENA Society, a program of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, is currently accepting applications for its annual PowerLink program, allowing one woman-owned business to receive free advice and counseling from seasoned professionals for one-year.

The PowerLink Program is made available through the ATHENA Foundation and administered locally by the Anchorage ATHENA Society to help women-owned businesses expand and thrive. Application deadline is by 9 a.m., May 28, 2010.

PowerLink "links" a business with a panel of advisors who meet the specific needs of the chosen business. The program is designed for local women-owned businesses that are at least two-years old and are beyond initial start-up difficulties. Businesses will be individually matched with an advisory panel after undergoing review from the business professionals within the Anchorage ATHENA Society.

In order to be selected to work with a panel of advisors, the company must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Women must own at least 51-percent of the business

  • Minimum of 2-years in business

  • Minimum of 2 full-time employees

  • If the business is a retailer or manufacturer, it has annual gross revenues of at least $250,000

  • If the business is a service business, it has annual gross revenues of at least $100,000

  • Clearly defined objectives and goals with which the PowerLink program can assist
