Sitnasuak Native Corporation Solicitation for Board Candidates and Shareholder Proposals


Sitnasuak Native Corporation (SNC) encourages shareholders interested in a SNC Board Seat or submitting a Shareholder Proposal to contact the Shareholder Department for information, forms and/or assistance.

The SNC 44th annual meeting of shareholders is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, 2017, in Anchorage, Alaska – webcasting will be available.  A total of four (4) directors will be elected for three year terms.  This is a leadership opportunity to get involved in the decision-making process for our village corporation.  Candidates must be 19 years old or older by the filing date.  Candidates will need to submit a written letter of candidacy with a completed questionnaire for candidates by March 3, 2017 by 5:00 pm to the SNC Shareholder Department at the offices in Nome or Anchorage.  The questionnaire for candidates is available for download at www.snc.org/forms.

Shareholders also have an opportunity to submit a shareholder proposal for consideration at the annual meeting.  This is generally new business that is proposed by a shareholder and must be stated in writing and filed with SNC on or before March 3, 2017 by 5:00 pm.  The proposals need to comply with SNC policies and a proposal form is available to assist in the process.

SNC is one of the Alaska Native village corporations created in 1971 under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA).  SNC is headquartered in Nome, Alaska with corporate offices also in Anchorage, Alaska.  SNC is the largest of 16 village corporations in the Bering Straits region, and owned by almost 2,900 Alaska Native shareholders.
