Sitnasuak Native Corporation CEO Richard Strutz Announces Retirement
SNC is currently recruiting a President & CEO
Sitnasuak Native Corporation (SNC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Richard Strutz has announced his retirement effective May 31, 2017. SNC is the Alaska Native Village Corporation for the community of Nome. Mr. Strutz has been part of the SNC leadership team for the past four years – first as the CEO of the SNC subsidiary Sitnasuak Financial Services, LLC, and since April 2015 as CEO of SNC. Mr. Strutz states, “I am proud to have been part of this great Sitnasuak team and I feel that the Corporation has strategically performed well and will continue to be successful. Sitnasuak has earned a place on the Alaska Business Monthly Top 49ers list with 2015 revenues reaching nearly $117 million. I am glad to have helped the Board and management in providing for shareholders and in becoming a leading Alaska Native village corporation.”
SNC Board Chair Bobby Evans expresses, “It has been my pleasure to work closely with CEO Richard Strutz. I appreciate his commitment to our Corporation, businesses and employees. He was a true asset and will be missed. The Board of Directors wish him the best in a well-earned retirement.”
With the retirement of Mr. Strutz, the SNC Board of Directors has recently approved a management restructure to improve the efficiency and productivity of operations, as well as to support the recruitment of a new Executive. Bobby Evans, SNC Board Chair, shares that, “The Board of Directors approved the unification of the President and CEO into a single leadership position titled President & CEO. This returns the Corporation’s structure to one Executive that reports to the Board. This a more traditional corporate structure that is familiar to the business community and will best serve our Corporation and shareholders.” Mr. Strutz will be working with SNC in the recruitment and orientation of the next President & CEO for a successful transition.
As part of the restructure, Michael “Ataata” Orr has transferred from SNC President to the position of Senior Vice-President, Alaska Operations. Mr. Orr will continue in this position and support SNC in the recruitment and orientation of the next President & CEO. As part of his duties, Mr. Orr will assume responsibility for Sitnasuak Financial Services from CEO Strutz.
