Eklutna CEO Announces Promotions of Key Staff

Eklutna, Inc., the Alaska Native Village Corporation for the Anchorage, Chugiak-Eagle River area, and Mat-Su has announced three promotions and additions within the organization. Eklutna, Inc. is the largest private landowner in Anchorage and the Mat-Su.  

Mary Duncan joined the Eklutna family in September 2004 as the Accounting and Office Manager. In October 2007, Mary became the Chief Financial Officer of Eklutna, Inc.  While managing the accounting and administrative functions of the Corporation, Mary works closely with the CEO and Board of Directors.  In January 2016, Mary became the Chief Administrative Officer of Eklutna, Inc. focusing on the administrative, human resources, risk management, contractual and legal aspects of the corporation.    

Nick Francis joined the Eklutna family in January 2013 as the Director of Construction, Contracting & Government Affairs and oversaw Eklutna’s construction subsidiary Eklutna Services, LLC. In January 2016, Nick was promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Eklutna, Inc. and its subsidiaries to work closely with the CEO to oversee daily operations and planning aspects of Eklutna, Inc. He will also continue to oversee Eklutna Services, LLC and other contracting divisions. Before joining Eklutna, Inc. Nick was the Sr. Project Manager for the Norton Sound Regional Hospital in Nome, Alaska for DOWL Engineers; prior to that Nick was a project manager for JD Dunn Construction, notable projects were the Escala Condominiums in Seattle, Washington; the Wayne L. Morse US Courthouse in Eugene, Oregon; and the Valdez Regional Medical Center in Valdez, Alaska to name a few. While working at Eklutna, Inc., Nick successfully completed the MBA Program with Purdue.   

Tonya Gamble joined the Eklutna family in June of 2015 as the Controller for the Corporation. Tonya comes to Eklutna, Inc. with approximately 26 years of financial and business experience. Tonya is responsible for the corporation’s financial department; she works with the executive team on financial strategic planning, business valuation, banking and assists with managing corporate assets.  Prior to joining Eklutna, Tonya was a Senior Tax Examiner with BDO USA, LLP (formerly Mikunda Cottrell & Co.), RM Consulting International based in Illinois working for the pharmaceutical company. Tonya graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics and an accounting degree from University of Alaska Anchorage. Tonya is a Certified Public Accountant.  

Steve Connelly joined the Eklutna family in March 2015 as the Director of Lands & Regulatory Affairs. Steve’s responsibilities include managing corporate lands and natural resources, working with developers on permitting, right of way, and environmental issues. Steve works closely with Federal, State and Municipal agencies on land planning and regulations.  Prior to joining Eklutna, Steve was Resource Development Manager for Granite Construction, Senior Property Manager for the University of Alaska Land Management. Steve has worked in Southeast Alaska in the logging industry. Currently Steve serves as a Board Member for the Resource Development Council. Steve received a Master of Science in Resource Management and Policy from State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Syracuse, NY. He’s got a Bachelors of Art in Economics from Villanova University, Villanova, Pennsylvania.   

Noel Aspiras joined the Eklutna family in April 2014 as a Project Intern for Eklutna’s construction subsidiary Eklutna Services, LLC while finishing his Construction Management degree at University of Alaska Anchorage. In January 2016, Noel was promoted as the Real Estate & Land Specialist for Eklutna, Inc.’s Land & Real Estate Departments. Noel’s focus is to assist the Land & Real Estate Departments managing projects and properties.
