Alaska Native Heritage Center Mother's Day Celebration 2016
Anchorage – The Alaska Native Heritage Center’s annual Mother’s Day celebration and opening of summer season is on Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 9:00am until 5:00pm. This yearly celebration welcomes the entire community and beyond, honoring all mothers from every background with free admission. Opening day will include a variety of interactive performances and demonstrations, with ANHC’s very own dance group and well-known Native Games team teaching and demonstrating new and traditional abilities. This year at ANHC, it is the Summer of Performance Art where we’re excited to share stories, traditions, and mix contemporary art forms with traditional art forms from the last 10,000 years! Come engage in interactive learning opportunities with the dance group, Native Games team, or the Alaska Native artists!
In addition to the performances in the Gathering Place, a variety of short films will be shown in the theatre, village site tours will be available and Alaska Native artists demonstrate in the Hall of Cultures. Admission is free. Following the annual Mother’s Day celebration, ANHC will be open daily during the summer season, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., until September 5, 2016. Be sure to join us!
